“Zooming” to bridge the social distance gap

We at University Friends Meeting now have access to a “pro” version of Zoom. That means we can use it for meeting virtually for longer than the thirty minutes that the free version of Zoom allows, and we can include up to 100 people. Zoom allows people to meet online, to talk to and see one another in the process.

Our Transition Team and the Book Club are already using it. If you would like to use this service for a committee meeting or for checking in with one another, just contact Catherine. She can set up the meeting and send out email invitations, and she could either host the virtual meeting or give that capability to someone else. In order to participate, people would need to download the (very user-friendly) Zoom app to the device, such as smart phone or laptop, that they would want to use for the meeting.

What do you think about using this option as a means of gathering for Sunday worship or Monthly Meeting for business? It’s something to consider in these times of social distancing and hunkering down.
