About our meeting
Our Mission
We seek to be a Christ-centered Friends meeting composed of a diverse gathering of believers and seekers worshiping and ministering together.

Our Vision
University Friends Church welcomes and nurtures people in the love of Christ. Led by the Holy Spirit, we embrace both the contemplative and active sides of faith, seek to build bridges of peace and understanding, and show Christ to the world by living out the Quaker testimonies.
Our History
What to expect
We are a programmed Quaker meeting:
Our worship is structured with traditional hymns, instrumental music, sermon and scripture, but also includes time
for waiting (or silent) worship.
Kids are welcome here!
We love having (and hearing) little ones in service! Children stay with adults in the sanctuary for the full service, but a cry room is available if desired.
Sensory Friendly
We welcome everyone of all abilities to our Sunday service! The volume of our choir, music and service is kept relatively quiet and accoustic, with technology at a minimum. Our sanctuary is primarily lit by natural light from our beautiful stained glass windows. While our historic building has plenty of stairs, our sanctuary and basement are wheelchair accessible.
Dress:
Some folks prefer jeans and t-shirts and others like dresses and suits. Come as you are!
Our Values
Following Christ
“Speaks to our Christian commitment and our witness in the larger landscape of worldwide Christianity.”
Arising from the Quakers
“Speaks to our particular spiritual heritage and our historic testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, service and stewardship.”
Focusing on Listening
“Highlights the contemplative side of our faith as we seek to be guided by the Holy Spirit in all that we do.”
Working for Peace and Social Justice
“Highlights the socially active side of our faith.”
Respecting Individual Journeys
“Recognizes that we are not all at the same place at the same time in our spiritual journeys, and sees the importance of allowing each other room to grow and the freedom to disagree on some points while always working toward the highest level of unity possible.”
