Family Promise Update – November UPDATED

November 11, 2020

Hi Friends,

11/20/20 Update: We will be having the families shelter in place at the Day House during our host week, December 13. This means that University Friends Church, Crossroads Friends Church and Wichita Church of Christ will be providing contactless drop-off meals at night and Crossroads will kindly be supplying lunches and breakfast as well. This time we will be using Meal Train to sign up for dinners—check out the sign up below or make a donation to help provide a meal during host week! https://mealtrain.com/9lz4dv

Here’s what’s happening with Family Promise in November. We have two families currently in rotation, with one leaving the church residential portion of program soon as they are currently seeking housing. We were able to meet them in September and we want to wish a big congrats to this mom and son on their hard work!

November is flying by so we’ll be ramping up preparations for our December 13th host week! We’ll support Wichita Church of Christ, most likely in their church. I will be contacting them to get more info soon.

Right now, we have a poll on the Family Promise volunteer page asking for a show of hands from current volunteers so we know how many folks are willing to participate so we can share that info with our partner congregation.

Along with this, I’ve posted volunteer training dates and a sign up form in case you haven’t had your refresher training this year or you’d like to volunteer for the first time. All volunteers must be trained before interacting with families, so please take a look at that
