Family Promise Update – 1/30

Hello everyone!

Our upcoming Family Promise host week begins on Sunday, February 27th. As our congregation continues to change and transition, we have decided to move from our role as a host church to that of a support church. This means we will not be hosting families in our building but instead, our volunteers will support Northridge Friends as they welcome families into their facility. Volunteers will still be needed as normal as we take over a day or two of volunteer activities. Once our congregation and facility return to a more stable situation, our goal is to return as a host church.

With the pandemic still on us and cases still going strong, the program is currently in shelter in place, where families stay in separate locations and meals are delivered to them. The Day House will be watching the numbers to see whether that is still the case by the time our week arrives. I will keep you updated.

Thanks to all who are willing to continue to help with this project—we are blessed by your dedication and generosity.

Host Week Volunteers

We will most likely choose a day to provide all volunteers, from dinner to overnight.

Families in Program

Currently in program
Families: 3
Adults: 4
Kids:  6

All of our families have been so flexible, gracious, and understanding during this crazy time of moving around and sheltering in place. They all continue to work on their goals with their case manager even under unusual circumstances.

One of our moms has been making progress towards her goals. Even though things are not falling into place as quickly as she would hope, she is moving forward and we encourage her every day.

A wife and husband have been busy applying and interviewing for jobs. Their son loves going to Pre-K and gets to ride a bus!

Our newest guest has had an unusual start to her time in FP with a shelter in place model, but she has adjusted well and is appreciative of the program.  We are excited to watch her progress.

Currently in the Almost Home transitional housing program
Families:  2
Adults:  3
Kids:  9
