Again…

  • In compliance with the Kansas stay-at-home order, all UFC’s meetings are either cancelled or being held virtually at least through June via our church website and Facebook page.
  • Look for online children’s activities, as well, on Facebook and the new website.
  • Remember that church expenses continue even while we’re hunkering down.  We appreciate friends mailing in their contributions that they would normally give in meeting for worship.  Current options for contributing include sending a check in the mail or using online banking.  Thank you.
  • Office hours are limited.  Sandy is in the office Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. most days.  Please feel free to leave a message on the answering machine so we can get in touch with you.
  • Finally, know that we care about you.  We’re considering other options for making connections within the congregation as we keep social distance.  What would be helpful to you?  What might you offer to others?  Send your ideas to universityfriends@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks to everyone who’s thinking creatively and responsibly, figuring out how to be Church in this challenging time.

Peace, Love, and Light,

Catherine

Other Announcements:

Have you been longing to join worship in person?  With the current guidelines, we have room for a few more, and we’re thinking we might be able to have something like a drawing—put names in a hat and draw some out.  Then those people could attend worship in person that Sunday.

We recognize that not everyone would welcome such an opportunity, and that’s fine.  But if you’re interested, let the office know.  If you want to make sure that you get to come with your partner, mom, or BFF, let us know, and we’ll keep those names together.

Then, each Thursday, as long as we are not open for worship, we’ll draw names for the next Sunday and let you know.  You would need to show up by, say, 9:45 that Sunday morning so we could get settled before going live at 10:00.

Please call 316-262-0471 or email the office to let us know if you want to participate in Worship!

Just a reminder – Please complete the digital/online survey that was sent to you on 4/16 that is part of our preparation for our all-church retreat with Colin Saxton July 10-12, 2020.  This will help us answer the question What is God calling us to do and be?  It is also available on the church website.  Access the survey here:  https://forms.gle/8PPUoChE78HKtKBS

The Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., the 2nd and 4th Tuesday’s of each month.  Join us in the church library or on Zoom. This month, Tuesday, June 9th and 23rd.  For June, the discussion will be over chapters 1 & 2 (Pages 13-28), in Phil Gulley’s For Everything A Season.  If you would like to attend via Zoom, please email Catherine at orcagriffith@yahoo.com, and she will send you an email invitation.

In Sympathy:

A late obituary notice was sent to us for Clarence (Clancy) Walz who passed away at his home in Augusta on April 18, 2020. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Continued Prayers for the families and friends of those who have experienced these losses:

·        Pearl Cole

·        David Bengi

·        Floyd Junior Brown

·        Valerie Guilliams

  Continued prayer concerns for:

  • Greg Newby has completed a week of medical appointments, with the successful placement of a Port-a-Cath to facilitate chemotherapy, which will begin soon.
  • Gordon Smith’s surgery went well.  Plans were to move him from ICU to a regular floor.  Joan says she will take all the prayers she can get.
